A new Robin is joining the cast in season 3 of Titans.
Jay Lycurgo, last seen in HBO’s I May Destroy You and who will soon make an appearance in The Batman, will play Tim Drake in Titans.
Drake is described as a streetwise kid who grew up on Gotham’s mean streets with an unshakable belief in heroism. He’s easy-going with a genius intellect–two traits that make a natural detective beyond his years.
In DC Comics, Drake becomes the third Robin after Jason Todd, and Dick Grayson before him. In Titans, Dick (Brenton Thwaites) left behind the Robin persona (and Batman) to become his own man and establish a new identity. After a bumpy transition, he developed a suitable character to lead the Titans and become Nightwing. But he couldn’t help Jason (Curran Walters), a misfit who never fit in with the Titans and rejected the Robin mantle. He’s set to become Red Hood in season 3.
Season 3 began filming in Toronto in November last year. Its release date on HBO Max is TBA.
